Telling the time · Year 1

In Year 1 you learn: days, months and the calendar; o’clock and half past.

We tell the time with analogue clocks (with hands) and digital clocks, and we plan our days with hours, minutes, days and months. Working out how long something takes — a film, a journey, a lesson — is one of the most useful bits of maths there is.

Key facts

  • April, June, September and November have 30 days. February has 28 (29 in a leap year). The rest have 31.
