Money · Grade 4
In Grade 4 you get fluent with: adding and subtracting amounts of money; giving change.
Money is counted in coins and notes. 100 pence make £1, and 100 cents make $1, €1 or R1. We add up prices, work out change, compare deals and plan budgets.
Key facts
- £1 = 100p, $1 = 100¢, €1 = 100c, R1 = 100c.
- To count coins, start with the biggest and count on.
- Change = money paid − cost. You can also count up from the cost to the money paid.
- Best value: work out the price of one item (or of 100 g) for each offer.
