Is “the classroom was a zoo” a simile or a metaphor?

A simile compares two things using like or as: “as busy as a bee”. A metaphor says one thing is another: “the classroom was a zoo” (no lions, but it was noisy and wild). Sort the sentences on the board.

Metaphors: her smile was sunshine, the stars were diamonds, time is money. Similes: he ran like the wind, snow covered the hills like icing, the kitten was as soft as silk.
