How long is your digestive system?
From your mouth to the end of your large intestine, your digestive system is one long tube, neatly coiled up inside you. The small intestine alone is several metres long, much longer than you are tall. Turn on the food path and follow a meal through it. Where does most of the digested food pass into your blood?

In the small intestine. Its inside is covered in millions of tiny finger-like villi, which give it a huge surface for digested food to pass into the blood. The large intestine mostly takes back water.
