Where was your raindrop last week?

The same water goes round and round. The Sun warms seas and lakes, and water evaporates into the air as a gas. As it rises it cools and condenses into the tiny droplets that make clouds. When droplets join and get heavy, they fall, and rivers carry them back to the sea. Press play and follow one drop. Can you name the four stages?

Evaporation, condensation, precipitation (rain, snow, sleet or hail) and collection (rivers, lakes, seas and water under the ground). Plants add water to the air from their leaves too: that’s transpiration.
