Probability

Probability measures how likely something is, from 0 (impossible) to 1 (certain).

Key facts

  • P(event) = ways it can happen ÷ total possible outcomes.
  • All probabilities for one event add to 1.
  • For two independent events, multiply: P(A and B) = P(A) × P(B).

Worked examples

Example 1

  1. One six: 1/6
  2. Two sixes: 1/6 × 1/6 = 1/36
