For children and parents
Calcali is made for learning, including by children. Here’s how we keep it safe, in plain words.
If you’re under 18
- People only see your username and the picture you chose. Never your real name.
- There are no private messages. Everything is in the open, so it’s easy to spot anything wrong.
- Don’t share your name, school, address, phone number or social media in posts. We try to stop it automatically.
- If something feels wrong, tap ⋯ › Report, or tell a trusted adult. You can also email safety@calcali.app.
- Your settings are private by default. Your school name, if you add one, is only shown to you.
If you’re under 13
A parent or carer needs to say yes before you can post. We email them a link. Until then you can still read, practise and use whiteboards. Joining your teacher’s class with a class code works too: your school gives permission instead.
For parents and carers
- We collect the minimum: a username, birth year, and your email (to ask permission). No phone number, no real name, no location.
- No adverts, no data selling, no tracking, no streaks or tricks to keep children scrolling.
- You can ask us to see or delete your child’s account and everything in it: email safety@calcali.app from the address you gave. You can also withdraw permission at any time.
- If your child forgets their password and has no email on the account, their teacher (for class accounts) or you (if you gave your email) can help them back in: use “Forgot password?” and choose “I don’t have an email”.
Laws we follow
UK GDPR and the Age Appropriate Design Code (Children’s Code), the EU GDPR, COPPA in the United States, and POPIA in South Africa.
